Carmen has been drawing as long as she can remember. She studied graphic design and visual communication in college, and works as a creative professional in real life.

In 2016, Carmen plucked up her courage and sat down for her first tarot reading. Fascinated as much by the curious illustrations as she was by the reading itself, she resolved to learn how to read the cards and unlock the insights hidden within them. It wasn’t long before she began dreaming of creating her own deck.

In 2019, inspired by another lifelong love- Western films -she began to sketch out ideas for a western themed deck set in the 19th century. What started as a list of popular Hollywood tropes became a seven-year immersion in research and a wish to bring forward the rich cultural history of the American West.

Carmen draws inspiration from the endless styles of illustration, collage and paper art. She is especially fond of portraiture.
